Pole Treatment Foreman – Allied Timbers

An exciting opportunity for the position of   Pole Treatment Foreman has arisen for suitably qualified and experienced person at Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd is an extensive, local and international provider of high quality and durable timber-based solutions for both industrial, domestic and end user markets. The successful incumbent will report to the Business Unit Manager and shall be based at Mtao Estate.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervises all pole treatment operations including pole off loading, inspection, sizing and stacking
  2. Produces and submit daily, weekly, monthly and yearly production reports
  3. Ensures that productivity and efficiency levels are achieved as per set parameters
  4. Assists the line manager in implementing work schedules, shift supervision as well as meeting of set production targets
  5. Ensures proper utilisation of raw material inputs for the pole treatment including creosote, CCA chemical and supervise anti-split plate installations
  6. Maintains a clean working environment with proper management of off cuts and any bark from poles
  7. Monitors the quality of the raw materials received and the products that are dispatched taking interest in untreated pole/posts inspection and pole/posts selection before dispatch to customers
  8. Takes direct responsibility for the performance management and discipline of subordinates
  9. Promotes health and safety at the plant by emphasizing safe handling and usage of all company equipment at the plant
  10. Ensures that all workers wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the appropriate tasks
  11. Ensures that all plant machinery such as bell loggers, generator, treatment plant and traversers are in good working condition

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Diploma in Wood Preservation/Wood Technology
  2. BSc degree in Wood Technology – an added advantage

Skills and Knowledge

  1. A team player and self-motivated – able to identify and rectify skills gaps and recommending interventions.
  2. Excellent presentation skills – Powerpoint
  3. Very analytical and comfortable with MS Excel spreadsheets

Remuneration

A remuneration package commensurate with education and experience will be given to the successful candidate.
