About the Program:
The Young Leaders Fellowship empowers young individuals worldwide to tackle community challenges in education, health, and economic security. This year-long opportunity focuses on leadership development, global citizenship, self-awareness, and vision planning, guiding you to become a change leader in your community.
Key Program Phases:
- Virtual | Community Needs Assessment (1 Month):
- Understand your community better through intensive needs assessment.
- Equip yourself with tools and knowledge to address local needs effectively.
- In-Person | Vision Planning & Project Development (10 Days):
- Transform your passion into concrete plans for change.
- Engage in workshops, events, and group work to refine your ideas.
- Understand your role in the global context.
- Virtual | Project Implementation & Alumni Mentorship (10 Months):
- Develop and execute your actionable plans with support from alumni mentors.
- Benefit from ongoing guidance through quarterly “hangouts” and remote communication.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: 18-26 years old.
- Commitment: Community Needs Assessment (June), in-person program (July), and year-long project execution.
- Language: Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Access: Email and internet for consistent communication.
- Application Deadline: November 12, 2023, 11:59 PM (NYC EST time).
Application Process:
- Fill out the online application in English.
- Include an essay, resume (1 page), and two letters of recommendation.
- Submit your application by the deadline.
Important Dates:
- Application Opens: October 13, 2023
- Application Closes: November 12, 2023
- In-Person Program: July 9 – 18, 2024
Logistics Information & Costs:
- Program Locations: New York, New York, and Burlington, Vermont.
- Deposit: $100 (Refundable upon program completion).
- Costs Covered: Flights, accommodations, meals, and local transportation during the program.
- Costs Not Covered: Passport fees, visa fees, in-country costs, personal travel beyond program dates.
